My interest and passion for working with children with special educational needs started early in my life as I supported siblings with complex needs and experienced both the emotional challenges and joys this brings to a family. I have since taught in a variety of mainstream and specialist educational settings across the early years, primary and secondary phases. I have worked with children with a wide range of SEN including autism, attachment and trauma, ADHD and sensory impairment. Prior to joining the Mead Academy Trust in 2014, I worked as an advisory teacher for SEN in Wiltshire providing strategic support for SENDCos and working with teachers to implement and review strategies to support the inclusion of children in their settings. I currently lead the resource base for children with complex SEN at River Mead School, in Melksham, to provide specialist provision for individuals, but also support the wider school community to offer inclusive opportunities for all.
