My first teaching post was in Barnet, North London. I then moved to a Service School in Germany, where I worked for the next 8 years. I returned to England to a senior leadership post at an outstanding Church of England School in Buckinghamshire. I joined the Mead School in 2008, initially as a class teacher and later as a Reading Recovery Teacher. This role has since grown to encompass reading support across the whole school.
Part of my subject leader role is to support colleagues from other schools as part of our National Support School role. In this role I have supported planning, team taught lessons, modeled lessons focusing on shared and guided reading, supported assessments, implemented literature circles/reciprocal reading and supported use of peer assisted learning
I facilitate Early English meetings for Trowbridge Collaborative Schools Limited and have led training for Bath Spa University, Schools Direct Trainees and English Subject Leaders from other schools. I have also run Reading Intervention training for NQTs and TAs.
