From 12th – 15th June 2018, teachers and leaders from across The Mead Academy Trust came together to host and participate in our first Lesson Study week.
Lesson Study involves groups of teachers collaboratively planning, teaching, observing and analysing learning and teaching in ‘research lessons’. They record their findings and over a cycle of research lessons they may innovate or refine a pedagogical approach that will improve pupils’ learning and which will be shared with others both through public research lessons, and through the publication of a paper outlining their work.
We were privileged to have ‘knowledgeable others’ from Three Bridges School join us for the whole week, their expertise in Lesson Study and the unique perspective they were able to offer was invaluable.
We ran two studies in parallel across the week, one in Year 2 and one in Year 5. You can read the full strategic approach, and the outcomes, in the research posters which we have published here.
