Since the last edition competition winners have been announced, the Polar Ocean Challenge was welcomed home and the team have been working incredibly hard to support schools in engaging with the crew from Northabout to learn about climate change.
Their new KS2 scheme of work that focuses on the Arctic and climate change will be available in early 2017. Additionally, the team is making connections with schools in the Arctic and hopes to be able to link them to schools here in the UK. If you’re interested in linking your school into this activity, or would like a speaker to talk to young people about the Polar Ocean Challenge or climate change then contact Vicky.
They arranged for David Hempleman-Adams to speak to 240 children at The Mead earlier this year, and the event was a huge success. We’d definitely recommend Wicked Weather Watch and David to any school that wants to cover climate change and exploration with their children.
